Chicago features many gorgeous terra cotta building facades, from it's northern to southern most neighborhoods, and everywhere in between.  However, as the hands of time keep ticking, many of these buildings are being lost forever.  Whether it's deemed "progress" or a tragic accident, every week another marvelous building gets demolished.  A few pieces of some of these buildings get salvaged or reused, but for the mostpart, when the building goes to the landfill, the entirety of the facade and the amazing artistry and craftsmanship put into it, go with it.

This blog will try to preserve the memories of these amazing structures lost, while highlighting the remaining, and restored, beauties this city still has to offer.

My first post will be about a modest and underrated single story retail building on the northern boarder of Lakeview.  The building was recently demolished, but this first story will feature some happy news.  Stay tuned for this, and at least 10 other buildings I already want to profile.
